RefWorks - getting started

for  people who have a RefWorks account, such as UWE Bristol Students

Introduction

RefWorks is a bibliographic tool that allows you to keep your own reference database online, and allows you to simply click a reference to enter it into your work  –  “Write-N-Cite”. It will then automatically format the references and create a reference list in your chosen style. When you search databases in Ovid you can export the references you find directly into your own personal RefWorks database, and organise searches in different folders if you wish.

If you tackle the relatively short learning curve it should be a fantastic help during your studies enabling you to manage references quickly and accurately.

It requires an internet connection, a word processor such as Microsoft Word (some others are supported), a small file downloaded and installed on your computer, and an Athens password (UWE students' Athens password allows access to RefWorks. If you are a student elsewhere you may not have access unless your institution has purchased RefWorks)
